Buddy Punching And How Much It Costs Your Business

Image
Buddy Punching defines the occurrence where one employee registers on behalf of his or her co-worker by tapping his or her time card, whether or not he or she is actually in the office. The reasons for such events are endless: the employee takes a long break, leaves early, arrives late, and so on. The reason does not matter. It is important that this common practice costs the company considerable time and money during the payroll year. If the fingerprint is used to register the clock instead of the time card, this prevents the time card from being passed on to a friend, thus eliminating Buddy Punching. The ideal solution to this problem is the introduction of a biometric time clock system. These systems typically use individual fingerprints or handprints to identify an employee, which the employee must be physically present in order to come to and from work on a daily basis. With this technology, no time cards or passwords are required to keep track of when employees are working!
